Client: Agrofair and TASTE

Objective of the assignment: To provide concrete recommendations for improving the water efficiency of the production process of fair-trade bananas in Ecuador and Peru.

How we did it: we conducted water footprint and water risks assessments and linked results to current agricultural and irrigation practices, as well as the existing water allocation policy. We used agricultural and irrigation data collected in the field and global climate and water scarcity data to fill in the data gaps. We prioritised the Chira river basin in Peru as the most critical location and proposed and prioritised short and long-term measures for improving water efficiency.
